Anna & Marc

When Anna and Marc first wrote to us, they asked for a film that would take them back to the day every time they watch it: the emotions they felt, the two of them together, and the people they love around them. They chose Villa Erba in Cernobbio, the nineteenth-century villa on the shore of Lake Como, and brought around a hundred guests to the lake for a July wedding.

The day started in two places. Anna got ready at Villa Erba, while Marc spent the early afternoon at Villa d'Este, a little further along the shore, with his mum, his dad and his sister. A last quiet hour, the final details, and then everyone met at the villa for the ceremony at five, with the Catholic traditions of Marc's family.

While the guests moved into the gardens for the aperitivo, Anna and Marc stepped onto a boat for a short ride on the lake, the two of them on the water with the villa behind them. Dinner came with a live band, and then the speeches: both fathers, Anna's sisters Sarah and Martina, Marc's sister Isabel, and Marc himself. There were as many laughs as tears.

After that the evening belonged to the party. The first dance and the cake, a change into Anna's second dress, and a dance floor that stayed full until the burgers came out at midnight.

Anna and Marc wanted to hear the day as well as see it, so their voices and the speeches carry the story. The highlight is the whole day in a minute. The cinematic film gives it room, from the first quiet hours at the two villas to the last song of the night.
