About This Wedding Day
When we first asked Tosca and Matthew what they wanted from their film, the answer was simple: the day as it really happened. No long posing sessions between the moments that matter, just their people, their emotions and everything in between. They chose Castello Alidosi in Castel del Rio, the Alidosi family's castle in the Santerno valley, on the old road between Bologna and Florence, and kept the whole celebration inside its walls.
Tosca got ready in the castle itself, and from early afternoon the place was full of noise: family and friends arriving, music in the rooms, somebody always singing. At five o'clock everyone gathered for the ceremony. For both of them the walk down the aisle mattered most, and they asked us for it to feel dramatic. It did.
Then came the words. Matthew, Tosca's father, the best man, the maid of honour and Tosca's brothers all stood up to speak, at the ceremony and later at dinner, and there were as many laughs as tears. After that the evening never slowed down. The guests sang and danced the whole night, and the energy did not drop from the first song to the last.
We filmed the day the way they asked: mostly from the side, letting things happen, with a few quiet minutes for the two of them away from the party. The highlight keeps the pace of the day, fast and loud. The cinematic film gives everything more room, from the first nervous minutes to the last dance.
